Upside is a cash-back app that gives you rewards for everyday purchases, including gas.

When you use the code AFF25 upon signing up, you’ll get an extra $0.25 cash-back per gallon on your first qualifying gas purchase (up to 50 gallons and only for new customers). 

The promo code should be automatically as long as you click this referral link. You can confirm that the promo code has been applied if you see the following notification on the app’s home screen:

Use these steps if the promo code doesn’t activate, or if you’d like to add additional promo codes (more promo codes are below): 

1. Select “Profile.” 
2. Click “Edit” under “Promo code.”
3. Manually type in AFF25. 
4. Select “Done.” 

This promo code gets you an additional $0.25 in cash-back on an existing offer. Therefore, if offers are available in your area, you should see cash back rates greater than $0.25. 

You can also combine this promo code with other codes available. In an expired promotion, I earned an extra $0.35 per gallon, resulting in a total of $0.60 per gallon in additional cash-back. Considering the promotions available in my area at the time of testing, I accumulated a total of $0.88 cash-back per gallon.

How to Activate Upside Offers

You must claim an offer within the app to earn the additional $0.25 cash-back (or any cash-back, for that matter).

These are the steps to activate an offer:

1. Add your preferred credit card to your wallet in the “Profile” tab.
2. Claim the offer within the app.
3. Check-in upon arriving at the gas station (requires enabling location services).
4. If check-in doesn’t work, take a picture of your receipt.

When we tested Upside, we found the app both easy to use and worth the 30 seconds it takes to claim an offer. If you were to fill an empty 25-gallon tank at $0.88 per gallon cash-back, that’s equivalent to saving $26.40.

Plus, there are additional offers within the app on both groceries and restaurants.
