Sometimes the discount was only slightly less than full price, but every bit helps. Lately, and I mean the last 6-7 products checked, the prices were actually higher and in some cases much higher. So it’s obvious that Capital One is not doing due diligence and staying abreast of product pricing. On the other hand, Capital One could be using this process because it has got to be some of the cheapest advertising for their company.

Great review, cogent responses and a very inclusive link to saving money (which I assume most like). Thank you.

Actually, it’s not an exclusive offer for just one specific item, but for the entire store trip. In my case, the 27% back applies not only to the hoodie but to everything I buy. The tricky part is that it’s advertised as an exclusive offer for a specific product.

Regarding some items being ineligible, yes, that can be a problem. It’s a common issue with many similar sites. To figure out which sites have only certain categories eligible, look for phrases like “Up to X%” instead of a flat rate when clicking through. Once you’re on the page within the app, it lists the categories eligible for rewards and the respective percentages.

So, I end up buying something from a store where the cost is higher upfront, but with the anticipated rewards, it would have cost less than at another store. However, discovering later that the product is ineligible means it ends up costing me more money. Shouldn’t they know whether something is eligible or not before sending out an offer?

Hi William,

Was the offer a discount off the tour or was it an exclusive deal being offered by Capital One Shopping, where you’re get a certain percentage back via Capital One Shopping Rewards?

How do I get the discounted price.

Compeltely understand. But if it’s not a hassle, leave the items in your cart for a day. You sometimes see the best exclusive deals this way.

I’ve got a few shopping extensions (Honey, Upromise, Priceblink) and usually when I make a purchase with CapitalOne Shopping activated, the transaction is not credited for rewards on the CapitalOne site. I tracked the experience for a while to try to better understand how it worked, and transactions were rarely being registered on the activity page. So I was not getting the promised reward/exclusive offer for credits.

I had a number of support experiences. Support was pretty good and responsive, and they gave me a few bonus credits after I showed screenshots of purchases made with active rewards. But it became way too tedious to manage, since they require 30 days for the merchant to update the transaction record, and even after 30 days they often say “some take longer.” Eventually, they stopped giving me credits, stating that all my transactions were being attributed to another referral partner. But it’s not clear who that is or what I can do other than remove all the other extensions.

I tried even manually disabling the others (not worth the effort even if it worked) for a few transactions but nothing changed. If I have another extension that is interfering, I cannot figure out what it is. But given the data they collect, make sure you are getting the credits applied!
